Standard size terracotta statue of cow-headed goddess Mehet Weret or Nut.

About: Mehet Weret is an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with the sky, particularly the night sky and the heavens. Her name translates to "Great Flood" or "Great Waters," linking her to the primaeval waters from which creation emerged in Egyptian cosmology. She is often depicted as a celestial cow, sometimes with a solar disk between her horns, symbolizing her association with the sky and the sun. As a celestial deity, Mehet-Weret was also closely linked to Nut, the goddess of the sky, and is sometimes considered an aspect of Nut herself.Mehet-Weret played a significant role in Egyptian mythology as a protective and nurturing deity, particularly in her aspect as a celestial cow. She was believed to provide nourishment and sustenance to the deceased in the afterlife, similar to the nurturing role of a cow providing milk to its young.
